Using your microwave as a disinfectant
Excerpt from WebMD Health News January 24 2007:
The sponges and scrubbing pads were soaked in wastewater containing a dangerous mix of fecal bacteria, E. coli, and bacterial spores. Bacterial spores are more difficult to kill.
The results showed that two minutes in the microwave at full power killed or inactivated more than 99% of all the living germs and the bacterial spores in the sponges and pads, including E. coli.
After an additional two minutes — a total of four — none of the bacterial spores survived.

Give Me Consistency = Give Me Death
Can we really expect people to be consistent?
What kind of consistent? Personality or beliefs? Or neither?
If there’s one pattern that I’ve noticed looking back over the years is: I am consistently changing. My beliefs, religious and political. My thoughts on lifestyle. Every piece of information I absorbed whether verbal, visual and aesthetic all changed me either in solidifying things I thought or in completely shifting them.
I believe the same happens to others.
I think the biggest confusion is with the word consistency. I would like it in many things: my car, the bus, my phone, a business service I’m paying for, really anything inanimate.
But with people, I think it’s a false expectation. One that’s set out to trip a person before they even begin.
In the end, I would rather be in a circle of people who grow/change then those who restrict change for the sake of fitting in.
How do you feel about expecting consistency in people?
Truth and Action (a few questions)
Would you rather know the truth, or just think you do? Always wondering, always guessing, always watching and listening for it? But, not accept it even when you stumble upon on it.
Or would you rather just ignore it all together?
Is it easier to go through life, living by what others say or even just abide by? Sure, in the short term. But in the long term it’ll feel like hell.
It seems easier to go with the status quo. Don’t upset the norms.
In the end, it’s an indescribable feeling to go through with something you believe and want.
People CAN learn to accept something AFTER the fact.
So, go ahead, do that “something”…
The 2nd (more important) part of persistence
Is persistence really enough?
We’ve heard a lot about how Thomas Edison persisted in experimenting while making the lightbulb. The word that I always paid most attention to was “persisted”.
We’ve all seen others and ourselves persist in many things, and not get anywhere.
I think the greatest value can be take from experimentation in your strategy and then persistence in your field.
It takes guts to look at what you’re doing and decide to try something different.
What strategy are you persisting to use that can use experimentation?
My Experience with Trump Entrepreneur Initiative…
Below is my experience with the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative:

Before this call I scheduled an appointment with Kyle the Friday before for today. My German shepherd suffered a heat stroke and was probably poisoned on Saturday (07.10.10) so I took him to the emergency room at the Auburn Veterinary Clinic. He had/has problems with his liver and kidney. Dr. Brown (the Vet) said on Monday when I picked up my dog that it’s a miracle that he’s alive, and that our “prayers must be very strong”.
So I tried calling Kyle to let him know I wouldn’t be able to speak with him. The number didn’t work for some reason. So when he called about 10 minuets past our scheduled time, I told him what happened with my Dog and that I wouldn’t be able to talk to him until everything is more straightened out in my life (I said I can talk in about a week). He reacted in a disgusted voice, “You know you don’t have to come up with these kinds of stories just because you don’t want to do the program. You can just tell me.” I told him that wasn’t the case, and he insisted a couple more times that it was. I found his attitude repulsive! In effect he told me I was a liar and don’t have integrity.

Around Noon.
I called the general TEI customer service number. I told MJ, who picked up what happened, she apologized several times and told me she will send me for free a resource “Secrets of Real Estate Marketing” (worth $50). I asked her if I can work with someone else, she scheduled an appointment for me for 07.20.10 at 2pm PDT. This woman was very nice, now this is what I would think TEI really is. I’m looking forward to talking with someone tomorrow.

22 minuets & 57 seconds
The conversation started off casually, he called about 12 minuets later than the scheduled time. He told me about their “Internet Marketing Package” that is $1,650.00. Their goal in it is to get you to become a power seller. The package includes:
- 4 proactive (meaning more frequent) sessions with a coach.
- 1 session per month for 6 months with a coach.
- 20-25 webinars during the 6 months (roughly 1 a week).
Some software wasn’t included that costs $600.00. The software is for data off of eBay to see what is selling at this very moment.
I asked what distinguished the successful participants from the unsuccessful ones, he became a little agitated and responded that it was following through with what they tell the person to do. I asked him about the “Entrepreneur Packages”, he said in effect “we don’t discuss this unless you have the money to buy it.” Which is around $9,000.00. I told him that I wanted to know all the options in order to make a good decision. He replied rather angry again, “in the Entrepreneur package, your coach helps you in taking the business from an idea to reality (business plan, data research, market research, etc).
I asked him about what other “Internet Marketing Packages” they offer, he got even more angry and said, “We don’t discuss that unless you have the money for it. Because like Trump says, ‘the most important thing at the end of the day is taking action’.” I explained to him that I want to know all the options, and even if I don’t have the money right now, a person becomes motivated to get it if he is looking forward to something (in other words has a goal). Some of the internet packages go as high as $18,000-$20,000.
He said that he isn’t going to disclose it, and then went on to say how they have certain techniques they teach that a lot of people don’t even know about. The conversation went in this effect:
Me: So far you haven’t really told me exactly how it is that a coach is going to go about helping me.
Frank: Once we have the $1,650.00 we can talk about it. The most important thing is action on your part (in other words me paying them money.)
Me: I don’t think that you would sign a contract or pay for something unless you knew what it was…
Frank: (cuts me off) you have no right to say what I would or would not do.
Me: Okay Frank…I know I personally wouldn’t sign an agreement or pay for something unless I knew all the details I could, and can see how I can go about doing what it is I plan with it.
Frank: Look, David, we have a 98% positive feedback rate….you know what, you’re barking up the wrong tree! You need to take action!
Me: All I’m doing is trying to find out what I would get from this, and know what I will learn about before I sign up for this.
Frank: Do you have any idea how many people call here every week!?
Me: Probably a lot…
Frank: Yes! A lot of people!
Me: Alright Frank, I haven’t gotten the information I wanted from you. I’ll be in touch soon.
Frank: (quiet).
End of conversation.
So that was my experience with the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative. I find that the people Donald hired in TEI really misrepresent him. I read several of Donald’s books, and I have to say Donald is a much better person than these people. These people don’t have any decency or manners (probably unless you’re willing to pay for it…around $20,000-$40,0000!).
I still look forward to doing some of Trump’s personal programs (such as How to Build a Fortune), but I’m definitely not going to do the TEI.
Does anyone else have an experience with any coaching program?
Facebook: Social Media?
I’ve recently begun my study into Social Media. I’ve had a Facebook account for nearly 2 years now, and I have to say that I’ve been one of those who didn’t really know what to do with it. At one point my number of friends got so large (about 120) that I decided to eliminate those who I haven’t contacted in the last 12 months. That left me with about 20 friends on Facebook. What a big mistake.
Just recently I’ve seen the power of social media in my own life. I now see it as a place to reconnect, or rather continue connecting with my friends. I also see it not as a replacement of face-to-face time, but rather an extension of it. Funny thing people thought that when the telephone came out it would replace face to face time, but rather it created more face-to-face time. Interesting, huh?
Right now I’m trying to find a way to plug into Social Media, to make connections with people all over the world.
Before I’ve felt like there was no way I can have any type of connection with someone all the way in Beijing, China (I live around Seattle, WA). Now I feel like it’s a part of my reality. To connect to people, consumers, groups/organizations all across the world. The barrier that existed before is now gone. People all over can connect, share and collaborate all together!
There is one thought I would like to leave you with. It’s a quote from Stephen R. Covey’s book “The 8th Habit: from effectiveness to greatness”.
“The internet is perhaps the perfect symbol of the new world, of the Information/Knowledge Worker economy, and of the dramatic changes that have occurred. In their 1999 book, Cluetrain Manifesto, authors Locke, Levine, Searls and Weinberger put it this way:
All of us are finding our voices again. Learning how to talk to one another….Inside, outside, there’s a conversation going on today that wasn’t happening at all five years ago and hasn’t been very much in evidence since the Industrial Revolution began. Now, spanning the planet via Internet and Worldwide Web, this conversation is so vast, so multifaceted, that trying to figure out what it is about is futile. It’s about a billion years of pent up hopes and fears and dreams coded in serpentine double helixes, the collective flashback deja vu of our strange perplexing species. Something ancient, elemental, sacred, something very, very funny that’s broken loose in the pipes and wires of the twenty-first century.
….there are millions and millions of threads in this conversation, but at the beginning and end of each one is a human being….This fervid desire for the web bespeaks a longing so intense that it can only be understood as spiritual. A longing indicates something is missing in our lives. What is missing is the sound of the human voice. The spiritual lure of the Web is the promise of the return of voice.’” -The 8th Habit, page 6.
It’s exciting times we’re living in. I want to learn as much as I can about this new world and show you how I’m doing it and hopefully inspire you to connect in this brave new world with me!
Facebook: Is it possible to equate humans to animals?
Is it possible to take what you learn about animals and equate it to human beings? The other day, I watched the Kinsey Report (starring Liam Nesson), in the film Kinsey says that having multiple sexual partners is part of the animals biology. By taking this belief from the animal kingdom he says that humans too have this in their genetic make-up.
One thing that came to mind was what I read in the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen R. Covey). In the book he said that there are 4 things or rather endowments we as human beings have been given. They are:
Self-Awareness: The ability to be aware of ourselves. To recognize “scripts” (paradigms/maps) that we were given as children or that we made up. Animals do not have this capability, they merely respond reactively to what happens to them.
Imagination: The ability to envision a future. To not be tied down by our past, but rather be able to imagine the life we want (or in a sense make a paradigm/map of what we want our life to be).
Conscience: That still small voice inside of us that tells us what is right and what is wrong. Animals do not have this voice. Even if that voice has been dulled over time, it is still there, waiting to be sharpened once again. The word “con” means “with”, and “science” means “knowledge”. So the word “conscience” means “with knowledge”: when we do something, we do it with the knowledge of whether it is right or wrong.
Independent Will: The other endowments give this one the how-to. Self-awareness makes us aware of our programming. Imagination gives us a choice to not be lived or acted upon, but to live. In this way we are proactive beings, and response-able beings. We can live out of our unlimited imagination and not our limiting past. With conscience we can do what we know is right.
On the subject of whether it is possible to apply what we learn about the psyche of animals to humans, I believe it is not. We are different. Our endowments make us of a totally different kind of species than anything in the animal kingdom.
Going back to the Kinsey Report, he said that sex is just a biological function, I have to say that possibly in the animal kingdom it is so. But in our human world we can choose to be otherwise. We can choose to love and be faithful to our husband/wife. What do you think?
NOTE: This post is number 2 of 4. Please start with the post tilted “Facebook Beta”.
Facebook Beta
I filled out an application on Facebook to be a part of their Beta experience. They had me come up with three questions and answers. So that’s what I did. The next three posts will be labeled “Facebook” followed by the question. Here’s the link for more info on the Facebook Beta Application:

What do you think? Do I have a chance?
Why defined?
If you search “Kurkov” in the dictionary, you won’t find a definition for it…I’m changing that. One man asked another on the death of a mutual friend, “How much did he leave?” His friend responded, “He left it all.” I too know that one day “I’ll leave it all”, and so I hope that in this blog I can share my legacy. By sharing my legacy I mean, share my experiences, what I’m learning, what I’m thinking and what I’m planning to do. I hope to settle into my blog over the next few weeks and get into a habit of using it daily. I’m also going to do my best to answer any questions/comments that are posted on here. You might be wondering why I would want to share my life with you. Well, the easiest way I can put it is, I want to give and receive encouragement, inspiration and knowledge. And what better way to connect than using social media? To our future…
